Marysville police officers are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Friday morning as a homicide.

Police were called to the Brookside Mobile RV Park in the 9800 block of State Avenue around 3 a.m. for a report of a death.

Police said the 82-year-old victim’s grandson went to check on his grandfather because his family had not heard from him for days.

“Initially, the grandson had come by, (but) he did not immediately call 911. He went home to talk to his mom and tell her what he had seen,” said Marysville police Officer Robb Lamoureux.

The grandson and his mother then returned to the mobile home and called 911.

 According to officers, the man’s death appeared to be suspicious.

 Officers quickly determined the death was likely a homicide and called for detectives.

A spokesman for the Marysville Police Department said the victim’s home was ransacked but there were no signs of a break-in.

Police are trying to determine if the victim knew his killer, but officers said family members are not suspects.

Investigators said they don’t yet know how long the victim has been dead and that there were signs that point to homicide, but they wouldn’t specify what kind of injuries were on the man’s body.

“We’re not really describing the scene at this point. It’s still early in the investigation,” Lamoureux said on Thursday morning. 

Lamoureux confirmed that the victim was a registered sex offender.

The Washington State Patrol is helping with the investigation and crime scene technicians are collecting evidence.
