TACOMA, Wash. —

A material witness warrant was going to be issued for the arrest of Cicely Clemmons for not appearing at her relative's trial on Wednesday, but she appeared on Thursday.

Cicely Clemmons, a niece of Lakewood police killer Maurice Clemmons, failed to show up to testify during Latanya Clemmons' trial on Wednesday. At that time, she was scheduled to testify as a prosecution witness.

On Thursday morning, defense attorney Helen Whitener told Pierce County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Arend she needs Cicely Clemmons to appear on behalf of her client and asked the court to issue the warrant to guarantee her presence at the trial.

Cicely Clemmons showed up at the courthouse and has agreed to show up again on Tuesday and testify during the defense phase of the trial.

Deputy prosecuting attorney Kevin McCann told the court Cicely Clemmons had car trouble on Wednesday that prevented her getting to court.

Cicely Clemmons was already out on bail after her arrest on a previous material witness warrant.

Investigators said she was present when Maurice Clemmons showed up at his aunt's home in Pacific after he shot and killed four Lakewood police officers.

Latanya Clemmons' trial on charges of rendering criminal assistance following the murders continues.
