Mayor's Budget Leans On Drivers Who Park Downtown

SEATTLE —

You'll pay more to park -- and pay for more hours of parking -- in downtown Seattle under Mayor Mike McGinn's proposed budget.

Parking fees will increase from $2.50 an hour to $4 an hour if the City Council passes McGinn's plan.

Enforcement would end at 8 p.m. instead of 6.

And drivers who park downtown would also pay on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking on Sundays is currently free.

In addition, the mayor wants to raise the commercial parking tax.

He also wants to add $20 to the price of license tabs for cars registered in Seattle.
