Medics Respond To Near Drowning Near Port Orchard

HELENA LAKE, Wash. —

Kitsap County officials responded to Helena Lake south of Port Orchard to the scene of a near drowning of a 13-year-old girl.

The girl and her parents were swimming at Niwana Girl Scout Camp when her parents noticed she had gone under. They went down and pulled her out.

Medics attempted to resuscitate the girl before transporting her to a Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma.

An eyewitness at the scene told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News the girl had a pulse when she was transported.
