Fires destroyed five homes in King, Snohomish and Skagit counties between Saturday evening and Sunday, according to officials.

The first fire occurred at the Summerglen Apartments at 1620 North 26th Street in Mount Vernon at 7 p.m. Saturday.

No one was injured and the fire is still under investigation as the Skagit County Fire Marshal will determine the cause.

Another fire gutted through a Covington home early Sunday at 2:30 a.m. in the 17800 block of Southeast 267th Place.  

Three people were inside of the home during the fire, but they got out safely.

According to Captain Kyle Ohashi of the Kent Fire Department, the fire was ruled accidental and was caused by discarded cigarette butts.

A West Seattle home in the 5400 block of 45^th Avenue Southwest was destroyed at 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

An occupant in the home suffered a minor burn while attempting to extinguish the flames.

Investigators determined the fire was caused by burning embers from a fireplace.

A fire caused more than $250,000 in damage to an Edmonds home Sunday morning.

The fire broke out at 4:32 a.m. in a home in the 1000 block of 9^th Avenue South.

No one was inside of the house during the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

Leslie Hynes of the Snohomish County Fire District 1 said it is too early for investigators to determine if the fire is suspicious.

The fifth fire broke out at 7:25 a.m. at an abandoned mobile home in the Martha Lake area east of Lynnwood in the 16500 block of 6^th Avenue West.

Crews extinguished the flames in about 15 minutes. No one was inside of the home and no one was injured.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the fire and determined the cause was most likely started by transients who were frequently seen by neighbors.
