BELLEVUE, Wash. —

A 10-year old boy is in serious condition after nearly drowning in a Bellevue pool.

The boy was pulled from a swimming pool Thursday evening at an apartment complex on Northup Way.

Police said a neighbor was watching a group of kids swimming in the pool and noticed a boy who was underwater and wasn't moving.

It was immediately apparent that the boy was in trouble. An alert neighbor took action.

"I came out and saw a little boy on the bottom of the pool. (A) neighbor across the way jumped in and started CPR," said Karen McGuire.

The boy was rushed to Harborview Medical Center.

"So far, they have been able to keep him going, but he's had some struggles (with) keeping his heart rate going," said Marcia Harnden of the Bellevue Police Department.

Police are warning parents to keep a close eye on children around pools, lakes and streams -- especially now that the weather is warming up and school is ending.
