Soldiers from the 62nd Medical Brigade and 555th Engineer Group are flying to the U.S. Central Command area of operations.

Fort Lewis officials say that could mean soldiers end up anywhere from Africa to Afghanistan. The soldiers will be deployed over the coming days and weeks.

Hundreds of friends and family members crowded the army gymnasium for a farewell ceremony.

Sergeant Chor Park says he joined the army to give something back to America. Park is a Korean immigrant and says U.S. hospitals saved the life of his son, who suffers from a rare enzyme disorder. Parks says he's ready to repay his country and fight in the Iraqi war.

Eleven hundred Fort Lewis soldiers have already been deployed to Central Command.
