North Seattle woman dies after Christmas Eve attack

SEATTLE —

Police said the teenage daughter of a 55-year-old woman found her mother unconscious outside their home on Christmas Eve following an attack that led to the woman’s death.

Seattle police spokesman Jeff Kappel said that at 10:56 p.m. on Christmas Eve , the victim stepped outside her home in the 300 block of Northwest 74th Street to talk the 48-year-old man she had been dating.

Police said the victim's 13-year old daughter went outside and found her mother lying on the ground at the side of the house, unconscious.

Police said the woman’s boyfriend was seen walking away from the victim before he left in his car.

Officers and medics were called to the scene, where neighbors reported hearing voices and a loud thump.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with a life-threatening head injury.

On Christmas Day, detectives were notified that the woman had died from her injuries.

Homicide detectives arrested the 48-year-old man on Wednesday.   He is being interviewed by detectives, and will later be booked into the King County Jail, Kappel said.
