At 11 a.m. Tuesday, a trail system in Ashford County Park off State Route 706 near Mount Rainier National Park was dedicated and named after Mundell, who loved the outdoors.
A candlelit vigil in Mundell’s honor will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Sheriff’s South Hill Precinct.
The 44 year-old deputy and his partner were escorting an intoxicated man from an Eatonville home last December when the man opened fire. Mundell’s partner survived the gunshot wounds, and Mundell died a week later.
