Parents Of Crystal Brame Speak Out

GIG HARBOR, Wash. —

The parents of Crystal Brame spoke out Wednesday for the first time since their daughter's death, thanking the community for its support following the horrific shooting by Tacoma Police Chief David Brame last month.

Crystal's Parents Speak Out

In an interview with KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Reporter Alison Starling, the couple said they wanted people to remember their daughter for what she did for her community and her family before her life was cut short.

"Try to remember her as who she was, what she did," said Lane Judson, Crystal's father.

"She just wasn't a person to sit down or sit around or just trying something all the time and she'd accomplish it," said Patty Judson, Crystal's mother.

It's hard for Lane and Patty Judson to find enough good words to describe their daughter, Crystal. Crystal was their pride and joy, and the light of their life.

"Yesterday for the first time I picked up the phone started dialing her number and I thought … it was hard," Patty Judson said.

The Judsons didn't want to talk about Crystal's husband, Chief David Brame, the late-April shooting or the continuing fallout at the police department and city hall.

Their focus is on Crystal and the hundreds of cards, letters and flowers they've received from all over the country. They are deeply touched by the outpouring of support.

"Our heart goes out to them and big thanks for what they've done for us. I think it helped us through some rough times," said Lane Judson.

And they are reminded every day this tragedy took both parents away from two small children.

"It's hard, but you have to do what you have to do. We have two children to take care of and we're going to do this," Patty Judson said.
