A 55-year-old man died from injuries received when he was hit by a car in Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood Wednesday night.

Seattle police said a Saturn Ion was traveling north in the 11000 block of Lake City Way Northeast shortly before 7 p.m. when a pedestrian tried to cross the street and was hit.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center but died shortly after.

Judy Taylor, the victim's sister, identified him as Andy Schneider. 

Thursday would have been Schneider's 56th birthday. He is survived by five brothers and four sisters. 

Taylor said that Schneider was homeless.

Police said the 23-year-old man driving the car showed no signs of impairment by drugs or alcohol.  He was interviewed and released.

Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad said the investigation is ongoing.
