A Pierce County deputy shot and killed a 50-year-old man who pulled a gun on the deputy during a routine traffic stop Friday morning.
According to Pierce County Sheriff's Department spokesman Detective Ed Troyer, the deputy made the stop in the 6400 block of Highway 702 around 12:30 a.m.
While the deputy was calling in his license and registration, the man got out of his vehicle armed with a gun and said to the deputy, "This ends right here."
According to Pierce County Sheriff's Office, the man began to raise his gun and the deputy fired at the man.
Investigators say it is still too early to tell if the armed man fired shots at the deputy during the incident.
The deputy was not injured.
