SNOHOMISH, Wash. —

A plane crashed Wednesday afternoon at Harvey Field on the east side of the airport, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The pilot took off in his Aeronca Champ from Harvey Field near Snohomish and reported a sudden loss of power. The pilot turned the plane around for safe landing, but the plane caught too much air speed to stop before the end of the runway. The plane went through a fence at the perimeter of the airport across Airport Way and into a field.

A drop between the field and road caused the plane to flip over and stop.

The pilot suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.

The pilot is based at Harvey Field and is very experienced.

An investigation will determine why the plane lost power.
