Plane Goes Down In A Field Near Silvana

Snohomish County, Washington —

A Marysville man suffered only minor injuries when his plane went down in the 21800 block of Pioneer Highway, just southeast of Silvana.

According to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, they responded to a reported plane crash at At approximately 7:00 pm Saturday evening.

Deputies reported that a 48 year old Marysville man took off from the Arlington Airport in his single-engine, 1995 experimental plane. The plane developed mechanical problems and the pilot attempted to land in a field near Silvana. The mechanical problems made steering the plane difficult and the pilot was forced to make an abrupt, steep landing. The landing gear of the plane dug into the soft ground, causing the plane to flip onto its top.

Local residents assisted the pilot out of the severely damaged aircraft. The pilot suffered only minor injuries and declined medical treatment.

The Sheriff's Office consulted the Federal Aviation Administration, which will conduct a follow up investigation.
