SEATTLE —

Two car prowlers were taken into custody in West Seattle early Saturday morning, according to police.

Around 2:20 a.m., police responded to an attempted vehicle theft in progress in the 3800 block of 45th Avenue Southwest.

Several officers were already assigned to an auto-theft and car prowl patrol in the area.

According to police, two officers stopped a vehicle at Southwest Spokane Street and 46th Avenue Southwest.

A witness positively identified one of the car prowlers, the vehicle and a large quantity of stolen property, which included eight car stereos.

A 26-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were taken into custody.

Police said that the prowlers are likely responsible for a theft from Friday evening and they were seen leaving in a dark two-door Honda.

The two were booked into the King County Jail, and the suspect vehicle was towed to the processing room, pending a warrant.

Detectives with the Seattle Police Department will handle the follow-up investigation.
