Police investigate apartment fire

SEATTLE —

Seattle police are investigating a fire that damaged an apartment building in the Rainier Valley early Sunday morning.

 

The fire happened at an apartment in the 3600 block of 34th Avenue South before 2 a.m.

 

Crews responded to the location and extinguished the fire.

 

Police said the fire was inconclusive as to if the fire was intentionally set or not.

 

The American Red Cross is assisting five adults and 11 children affected by the fire.

 

According to police, a man who was thrown out of the apartment earlier was contacted by officers one block away from the building.

 

The man was taken to the South Precinct to be interviewed and was later released.

 

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call 911.

 

The fire remains as an open and active investigation.
