A 24-year-old man was arrested overnight for the fatal stabbing of an Auburn man.

Police said the two had known each other since childhood.

Officers responded to a home in the 4020 block of Auburn Way South just after 1 a.m. Monday after a man called 911 to report that a family member had been stabbed.

When officers arrived, they found a 22-year-old man who was unconscious and bleeding from a stab wound to the neck. Officers and medics attempted CPR, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene and transported to the King County Jail.

Police said that shortly before the stabbing, an argument occurred between the suspect and victim.

Police said it is not known  if drugs or alcohol played a role in the argument.
