Police Looking For Serial Hotel Burglar

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. —

Police are looking for a serial hotel burglar who registers at a hotel with a fake name and then breaks into nearby rooms, said Federal Way police.

James L. Sly, 44, is suspected of burglarizing hotels in Federal Way, SeaTac, Tukwila and Renton since January 2008.

Police said Sly registers at hotels under the name of Colin Smith and then burglarizes other hotel rooms. Sly breaks in the rooms by prying the door jam. The damage is not immediately noticeable, police said.

Sly has been seen in a 1981 white Toyota Celica with a Washington license plate of 442WNL. He is described as an African-American male, 6 feet tall, 215 pounds, brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone with information on Sly should call Detective Scholl at 253-835-6892 or dial 911.
