Police Release Sketch In Olympia Rape Case

OLYMPIA, Wash. —

Olympia police have released a sketch of a man who they said raped an 11-year-old girl earlier this month.

The rape took place in the girl's home on Feb. 5 while her family slept.

Police said the man is 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with short, straight black hair.

He has a dark complexion, a mustache and goatee. He is between the ages of 17 and 25, police said.

He was wearing glasses, tan or khaki pants and a long-sleeved pullover at the time of the attack.

Anyone with information on the man should call Olympia Police Department's Detective Bureau at 360-753-8025 or 360-709-2793.

On Wednesday, authorities said DNA evidence cleared a man who was arrested and charged in the case.

David Lynch, 23, was arrested in the neighborhood where the girl was attacked. Police discovered that Lynch had been living in an elaborate underground bunker in Olympia's Watershed Park and found a notebook that referred to a "child-hunting game."

Police said Lynch appeared to have mental health issues and that the man admitted to hurting someone the night of the girl’s rape.

Thurston County prosecutors said they were dropping all charges against Lynch after DNA evidence was found not to match that which was found on the victim.
