SEATTLE —

Seattle police responded to a report of a home-invasion robbery after an armed intruder stormed into an occupied South Park home late Wednesday morning.

Police told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Jeff Dubois that the homeowner was alone when he heard the door being kicked in. The owner came downstairs and confronted the man, who had a gun. The intruder fled, and the homeowner called 911.

The home, which is in the 800 block of South Henderson Street, is directly across from Concord Elementary School.

Police are scouring the area for the man and the school is "sheltering in place" while officers and K-9 units conduct a search. David Tucker from Seattle Schools said that students will be kept in their seats and won't be allowed outside for recess while the search is in progress.

Seattle police spokesman Mark Jamieson said the incident occurred at 11:12 a.m.
