Police Respond To Man Barricaded In House

SEATTLE —

According to Seattle police, a man who barricaded himself in a house in West Seattle near Brandon Street came out shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday.

Renee Whitt with the Seattle Police Department said the incident began shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday when a man was seen chasing another man down the street.

The one man was able to escape, and the second man barricaded himself in the house, officials said.

According to Whitt, the man did not have any weapons and was not an imminent danger to the public.

Chopper 7 was overhead as members of the SWAT team surrounded the house and shot tear gas into the basement and first floor windows of the house.

The man came out the front door, walked down the walkway and was then arrested, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

Witnesses in the neighborhood told KIRO 7 Eyewitness they saw the man barricaded in the house use a double-edged ax on a car before entering the house.
