Police Say Bellingham Raid Yields Arsenal

BELLINGHAM, Wash. —

Police said a drug-related investigation led to the discovery of an arsenal at a Bellingham apartment Friday.

The Northwest Regional Drug Task Force said a six-month investigation into the delivery of cocaine and marijuana resulted in the serving of a search warrant at the apartment in the 2400 block of Saint Paul Street in the Roosevelt neighborhood.

SWAT and drug agents arrested 35-year-old Travis Webber on drug charges, but didn’t expect to find guns and armor.

Upon entry into the apartment, a large cache of weapons and ammunition was discovered, police said.

"When officers entered Travis Webber's apartment they say they didn't plan on finding this: 5,000 rounds of live ammunition, handguns, rifles, books on how to be a sniper, even a groin shield,” said Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo.

The weapons were displayed for viewing by city officials, media and community leaders at a news conference Wednesday.
