Police Seek Answers To Lakewood Man's Mysterious Death

LAKEWOOD, Wash. —

Police are trying to determine if a man found in a pool of blood and days later died in a hospital is a victim of an accident or a homicide.

Robert Hill Fraser, 57, was found sitting on the grass in a pool of blood at the Pacific Ridge Apartments in Lakewood last week. Fraser had a large cut on the back of his head and a possible black eye, police said.

“That's the whole thing that's like really really strange, that nobody had ever seen him before and that he was just left there,” said Pacific Ridge manager Chris Lisowski.

Fraser was barely able to talk as paramedics treated him when he was found ten days ago at about 3 p.m. He soon lapsed into unconsciousness and never recovered.

Fraser died two days ago, but police were never able to talk to him about what happened.

“We were never able to get a statement from him to find out what happened, so we don't know if he was hit by a car, if he fell down, assaulted or what the deal was,” said Assistant Chief Mike Zaro of the Lakewood Police Department.

Police said Fraser was a transient, but unlike most homeless men who carry all their possessions with them -- he had nothing, no ID, no backpack and no cash.

Investigators said it's possible he may have been dumped at the apartment complex by whoever injured him.

Residents said the area where Fraser was found is not known as a hangout for homeless men or transients.

Anyone with information should contact the Lakewood Police Department.
