SEATTLE —

Washington State Patrol is still looking for the driver of a pickup truck involved in a double fatal crash on state Route 12 in Thurston County on Sunday.

At about 1:40 p.m. Sunday, 33 year-old Derrick L. Filby of Rochester was traveling westbound in a 1986 Toyota MR 2 on state Route 12 in Thurston County, said WSP trooper Brandy Kessler.

WSP fatal crash 2

A pickup truck stopped at Pecan Street near Grand Mound pulled out in front of Filby onto SR-12. Filby hit his brakes attempting to stop and swerved left into oncoming traffic, hitting a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by 60-year-old Calvin E. Mason of Prineville, Oregon, Kessler said.

Filby and a passenger in the PT Cruiser died.

Investigators are still looking for the driver of the pickup truck who left the scene.

The truck is believed to be a Chevy two-wheel drive, standard cab, long bed truck between the years of 2000 and 2005.

The photo of the truck is what witnesses said the truck looks like, Kessler said. A second witness also said the truck had tinted windows and may have had tires in the truck bed.

Anyone with information on the truck should call the state patrol at 360-586-1999.
