Police Seeking Witnesses In Fatal Tukwila Crash

 

TUKWILA, Wash. —

The Washington State Patrol is seeking witnesses to a multiple-car fatal crash that occurred during the Wednesday morning commute in Tukwila.

Police said they arrived at the scene in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 at 5:53 a.m. to find a three-car crash blocking several lanes near the state Route 518 interchange.

Police said a white Ford Crown Victoria taxicab and a black Toyota Land Cruiser crashed, causing the Toyota SUV to roll over into traffic and hit a black Toyota Camry.

Police said the 43-year-old Seattle resident who was driving the SUV was not wearing a seat belt and was declared dead at the scene.

Five of the six southbound lanes were closed for about 2½ hours while troopers and detectives investigated the crash.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the cause of the initial crash between the Toyota Land Cruiser and the taxi.

The drivers of the Camry and the taxi were not injured. A passenger in the Camry suffered minor injuries.

Detectives are seeking any witnesses who saw the crash or the events leading up to the crash.
