Police May Be Closer To Catching Groping Suspect

The tips haven't yet provided personal information about the man, but a detective is investigating each one.

Police also reported Wednesday that they've learned of an additional attack that happened last November, bringing the total number of groping cases to seven.

"[It] catches them totally off guard. They don't expect it, and then they get accosted and groped," said Cpl. Gary Cook of the Bellevue Police Department.

Cook said the first groping was stunning in its brazenness.

It happened at a bus stop in the Crossroads area. Over the next few weeks, the man targeted more women in the area and in nearby Overlake.

The man usually strikes before 7 a.m. and officers fear he's getting more aggressive.

"In one case he grabs a victim in a bear hug and tries to pull her off the street," Cook said.

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION Hispanic Male Adult 18-24 years-old Unknown hair style & color Brown Eyes Slight mustache 5'2' to 5'7" 120 to 165 lbs.

In all incidents, the suspect was described as wearing a hooded sweatshirt or jacket with the hood up. In warmer weather, he was seen wearing a heavy sweatshirt with the hood down and wearing a plain red bandana.

Anyone with information on the man is asked to call the Bellevue Police Department at (425) 452-6917.
