OLYMPIA, Wash. —

A man’s truck was stolen from a parking lot at Capitol Medical Center in Olympia early Thursday while he was sleeping in the back, and all of his possessions were inside, including his cat, Herman.

Jeff Young spoke with KIRO 7’s Richard Thompson about the 911 call he made while he was in the back of his truck, how he escaped and hoping someone will find his truck with belongings and cat.

“I’m in the back of my truck right now sleeping in it, and it’s being stolen.” said Young when he spoke with a 911 dispatcher.

The truck was traveling towards Mason County and when the truck stopped, Young saw the man who was stealing his truck through the window.

“He had a really big knife out and came around the driver side,” said Young.

After the thief came out of the truck, Young jumped out and the man drove off with Young’s vehicle.

“I’d rather have the cat back than the truck,” said Young. “It’s stupid people that say it sounds stupid, but I’d rather have my cat back than the truck.”

Anyone with information that could lead to the return of Young’s stolen silver 1989 Toyota pickup truck or Herman is asked to contact the Olympia Police Department.
