The one probable case of severe acute respiratory syndrome in Washington state has been described as an 80-year-old man in Kitsap County.

The head of the Kitsap County Health District, Dr. Scott Lindquist, says the man no longer is ill.

The case was reported to state health officials last month after he returned from a trip to Southeast Asia.

It's the only one of Washington's 24 residents with suspected SARS that has been classified as a probable case under standards adopted Friday.

Test results that could determined whether it was an actual case are pending from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Lindquist says the last time nurses talked to the man, he was mowing his lawn.

The health official adds that no one close to the man has gotten sick.
