Prosecutor: Pedi-Cab Driver Won't Face Charges

SEATTLE —

The man who was driving a pedi-cab that crashed in Belltown last summer, killing a passenger, won't face charges, the King County Prosecutor's Office said.

The 23-year-old man's actions did not rise to the level of negligence or recklessness, the prosecutor's office said Friday.

The Aug. 6 crash killed Peter Dzioba, 60, and injured his wife.

Seattle police said the pedicab was carrying the couple westbound on the sidewalk on Cedar Street.

A minivan was heading northbound on Western Avenue in the left lane next to a white scooter in the right lane. The pedicab entered the intersection, hit the scooter and then slammed into the minivan, police said.
