Prosecutors: Armed Teen Was Prepared For After-School Fight

TACOMA, Wash. —

An armed 15-year-old student responsible for a lockdown at Mount Tahoma High School was planning to use the gun in a fight with other students after school on Monday, according to court documents obtained by KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The student was carrying the loaded weapon -- a stolen .32-caliber revolver wrapped in a blue bandana -- in his waistband when school officials found him, prosecutors said.

Authorities determined other students involved in the planned fight were in class, ordered the lockdown and sent police to find out whether the other students had weapons, according to the documents.

No additional weapons were found.

The planned fight was to have taken place after school at the B&I and was gang-related, according to the court documents.

The 15-year-old is being held in Remann Hall on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon at school and first-degree criminal trespass.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges in a juvenile court appearance Tuesday afternoon and was ordered to remain held in juvenile detention.

His next court appearance is scheduled for May 6.
