Preliminary reports indicated it was a 3.8-magnitude quake and it was centered about four miles northeast of Mount Vernon.

Several KIRO 7 Eyewitness News viewers called to say they were awakened by the quake, which caused minor shaking and set off car alarms.

"I could hear things in my bedroom rattling off the shelves, windows rattling. My bed was waving waves like you're on an ocean, kind of spinning," said Alisa Henning of Burlington.

There were no reports of any significant damage.
