Qwest Field Easter Service Draws Thousands

SEATTLE —

An estimated 20,000 people gathered at Qwest Field Sunday morning for Mars Hill Church's Easter service.

Seattle-based Mars Hill Church held a 9:30 a.m. service and expected it to be one of the largest church services ever held in the Northwest.

SLIDESHOW: Thousands Attend Qwest Easter Service

The church decided to hold its service at Qwest due to the overflow crowds Easter Sunday typically draws, one of the church's pastors told the Seattle Times.

Despite the rainy, chilly weather conditions, thousands attended the morning service. Pastor Mark Driscoll delivered the sermon, and worship and baptisms were also included in the 90-minute event.
