SEATTLE —
Several days of rainy weather have caused a small landslide in West Seattle.
The slide happened along Beach Drive near Atlas Tuesday evening.
Seattle police said the road is closed because more than half of it was blocked Tuesday night. It was not clear when it will reopen.
Crews with the Seattle Department of Transportation were cleaning up the mess overnight, using chain saws to cut tree trunks and pushing back branches.
A man who lives on Beach Drive said the slide is not unusual.
"We've had problems with stuff coming down, not to this degree. This looks a little worse to me then the last incident or two over the last several years," said Lee Sorrin.
Sorrin said trees have been removed from the hills above the street to prevent slides.
