Redmond Tries To Ban Human 'Sign Wavers'

REDMOND, Wash. —

The city of Redmond is trying again to do away with human sign wavers.

The city lost its battle with a bagel baker after a judge ruled the city's ban on "human signs" was unconstitutional.

The city council passed its second emergency ordinance in a week Tuesday night on the subject, to address concerns about real estate signs.

The ordinance is intended to give the city control of portable signs while it appeals the Blazing Bagels case. The ordinance that prohibited a man from holding a sign outside a bagel shop was ruled unconstitutional.
