Ridgway Confession Videos Selling Worldwide

SEATTLE —

Now that Gary Ridgway's uncensored confessions are available on DVD to anyone with a credit card, the company selling the video is scrambling to keep up with demand from around the world.

Larry King Live ordered the complete set of 111 DVDs Wednesday, but media purchases are only part of the demand for the videos.

Morbidly curious people around the country can buy all of the DVDs or just one disc. The law says these have to be released to the public.

"The phone has been ringing off the hook," said Derek Dohn.

Dohn runs the company dubbing and selling the complete Ridgway confession collection on DVD. He said he never imagined there would be so many orders, some coming from as far away as France.

Ridgway Reveals Gruesome Details In Chilling Confession

Dohn said this is only the beginning, as news of the DVD sale is just now spreading worldwide.

"Suddenly, it will invite a whole different wave of interest," he said.

Interest comes from anyone with curiosity and cash as little as $20 for a single disc.

As the orders for the gut-wrenching confessions pour in, families of Ridgway's victims are worried the killer's rantings will get into the wrong hands. Jose Malvar, whose sister was murdered by Ridgway, is one of them.

"My biggest fear is, somebody's going to get a hold of these tapes, or these videos, and they're going to go out there and actually commit murder," Malvar said.

Ridgway Takes 'Field Trips' To Burial Sites

The Chameleon Data chairman says he invested so much money in equipment just to make copies of the DVD, he hasn't seen a profit yet.

But at $2,200 for the complete set, he can't even predict how much money the project will make over the next few years.

"We certainly hope we have a little ice cream money left over," The law says this hard-core material is public record.

But Jose Malvar feels only police and psychologists should have access to Ridgway's demons.

"Let them buy the tape, not just the public, you know, to get off on it, 'cause the only people I can think who's buying this stuff, is psychos," Malvar said.
