A helicopter, armored car and SWAT team were brought in to arrest the man, who fled into a wooded area near North Bend.

King County sheriff's spokesman John Urquhart said police were concerned because the man was armed and resisting arrest.

The 26-year-old North Bend man finally surrendered this morning and was jailed for investigation of assault, drive-by shooting and attempting to elude police.

The man allegedly drove a black SUV in Redmond Tuesday night, tailgating other vehicles, driving over sidewalks, making obscene gestures and threatening other drivers with a handgun.

The man -- enraged at a slow-moving vehicle -- chased one driver around a gas station at East Lake Sammamish Parkway and Redmond Way and fired shots, police said. No one was hurt. Shell casings were recovered in the area.

Washington State Patrol troopers spotted the suspect on Interstate 90 and gave chase, but lost him near North Bend.

The suspect's vehicle was spotted Wednesday morning in a canyon off I-90 east of North Bend. The man was inside.
