A robber attacked a Pierce Transit driver at a park and ride lot in DuPont.

"He got out to take a break, walked over here and he was confronted by an individual who implied he had a firearm," said Sgt. Mike Cummings of the DuPont Police Department.

It happened June 2 in broad daylight.

Detectives believe the robber was hiding and waiting for the bus to arrive before confronting the driver.

"He wanted the money and the bus driver also wore some jewelry that he wanted, too, and he was removing the jewelry to give it to the suspect when the suspect hit him in the face," Cummings said.

The driver was treated for minor face wounds.

The robber is described as a black male, 20 to 25 years old, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds, with acne pocks on his cheeks.

The bus driver was shaken but his supervisor said he is back on the job.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for anonymous tips that lead to the arrest. Call Crimestoppers at (253) 591-5959 if you have any information about the suspect.
