King County search and rescue teams aided an injured skier to safety overnight after he fell near Chair Peak at Snoqualmie Pass.

Rescuers received a call around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday from a back country skier who said his friend had fallen while they were near Chair Peak by Alpental Road in the Snow Lake area.

The men were in the 4,800 foot level.

Twenty-five trained volunteers hiked in overnight and reached the injured man who had suffered possible broken bones as well as left wrist and ankle injuries.

 A helicopter that was requested in the rescue had to return to base when winds became too strong so crews had to hike down nearly two miles with the man on a stretcher. 

By 4 a.m.,  the man had been successfully transported to Harborview Medical Center for his injuries and hypothermia.  His condition was not immediately available.

The other skier was not injured.
