Matthew Hubner was hiking with friends along a cliff about 7 p.m. when he slipped and fell about 40 feet into the water near the Deception Pass Bridge. A Coast Guard helicopter resumed searching Saturday about 6 a.m., but at 7:41 a.m. officials "suspended the search pending further developments."

Deception Pass separates Whidbey and Fidalgo islands at the north end of Puget Sound.

A memorial service for Matthew is planned for Friday, May 5th at Oak Harbor Middle School.
