Seattle-Bound Flight From Oklahoma Loses Cabin Pressure

SEATAC, Wash. —

A flight bound for Seattle from Dallas that had to be diverted to Oklahoma City because of mechanical problems landed at Sea-Tac Airport Wednesday night, nine hours late.

The 141 passengers on board reported hearing a 'bang" just before the plane lost cabin pressure.

"We heard like a 'grrrrr' kind of noise," said passenger Jayant Chaudhary.

"We did make a fairly expeditious descent. A minute or so," said Todd Herzog.

Passengers on board American Airlines Flight 621 said the problem occurred minutes after taking off from Dallas Fort Worth Airport in Dallas. They said they heard what they described as a "bang," then the pilot announced the aircraft had lost cabin pressure. The MD-82 was then diverted to Oklahoma City more than 200 miles away.

The airline sent another plane there to pick them up and bring them to Seattle, their original destination.

"They brought one, and then brought a second one. And that one had problems. And then we got the third one," said passenger Doreen.

Passengers boarded the third plane and headed to Seattle, arriving nine hours late.

There is no word on what caused the initial failure.

No one was hurt.
