SEATTLE —

Police are searching for whoever vandalized a church in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood on Saturday.

Parishioners arrived for Sunday services at St. John Catholic Church to find spray-painted graffiti on windows and walls.

Father Bill McKee surveyed the damage with a Seattle police officer and said most of it was on buildings that house the school.

Parishioners like Sheila Marty and her family got a closer look after services.

“It really makes me mad. Someone has decided to make a lot of work for us and to insult our beliefs. It’s not good messages for our kids to be reading,” said Marty.

Some of the graffiti consisted of comments attacking God and included profanity.

Parishioners returned Sunday afternoon with tools, paint and cleaning supplies and cleaned up the damage.
