Seattle Council Members Want To Save P-I Globe

SEATTLE —

Three former news reporters who are members of the Seattle City Council want the Seattle P-I Globe to be designated a historical landmark by the Landmarks Preservation Board.

Jean Godden, Tim Burgess and Sally Clark said they'll work with former P-I staffers to submit a formal application and other paperwork.

The Seattle P-I's Web Site (www.seattlepi.com) reported that the designation would provide protection for the 18-ton, three-story high visual icon as long as it remains in Seattle.

After 146 years, the P-I ceased print publication March 17, KIRO 7 reported.
