A 55-year-old Seattle doctor who was missing on Mount Adams has been found safe.  

Peter Baciewicz is in good condition, although he's tired, with bumps and bruises, a Yakima County dispatcher told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Baciewicz was found in the Morrison Creek area on the west side of the mountain and was on his way down Tuesday night.  

Earlier in the day, the Polyclinic of Seattle identified Baciewicz as the missing man as hopeful signs emerged that he was OK.

Sgt. George Town told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that friends of Baciewicz received a text message early Tuesday morning, saying words to the effect, "I missed the campground."

The text message was not a distress call, said Town, but rather was casual. 

It was unclear when Baciewicz sent the message that was received at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday but wasn't reported to authorities until about 9 a.m.

Baciewicz and a friend went hiking Sunday in an area of the 12,276-foot mountain known as the "Lunch Counter." They separated, planning to ski down later and meet back at their car but only the male friend had returned by late Sunday afternoon. He called for help Sunday evening.
