An Icelandair flight from Seattle to Reykjavik, Iceland was diverted to Edmonton, Canada due to electrical problems.

The Boeing 757 landed safely in Edmonton.

Kirkland City Councilman Toby Nixon was on board the flight and told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that he was on the plane when all the cabin lights went out two hours into the flight.

“Then maybe a couple of minutes after that, he (the pilot) came on and announced that there had been some sort of a problem they weren’t sure what it was,” Nixon said. “My immediate thought was to say a little prayer that we would all get to where we were going safely.”

Nixon said the lights in the cabin, TV screens and air condition went off. Then he could feel the plane start turning around almost immediately.

Emergency vehicles rushed to the plane after it landed.

No one was hurt.

Nixon told KIRO 7 that he was on his way to Sweden for business.
