SEATTLE —
Seattle lawyer Anne Bremner, who has appeared on TV as a consultant in high-profile cases, pleaded guilty Wednesday in King County District Court in Shoreline to drunken driving.
She told the judge she made a mistake and apologized. Her lawyer Bill Bowman said a combination of drinking at a dinner party and medication for bipolar disorder led to her impairment.
The 52-year-old was stopped June 4 in Kenmore when a deputy noticed her driving on three flat tires.
Judge Douglas L. Smith sentenced Bremner to two days in jail and ordered ger to pay a $1,200 fine and have an interlock device installed in her car.
Her lawyer distributed the following statement:
Today, Anne Bremner entered a plea of guilty to the DUI charge filed from the incident on June 4, 2010. Anne is an accomplished lawyer and has built her career fighting as an advocate for police officers in this state. As a result you can imagine how terrifying and embarrassing it is for her to find herself in this position. As we all know, fear and anxiety can cause us to do things we wouldnt normally do. In this case, Annes fear of being embarrassed has caused her to try to keep the police reports private. Anne now realizes that this attempt was misguided and she has agreed to release the reports.
Annes choice to drink and drive on June 4th was wrong. She sincerely regrets making that decision and the way that she treated the officers involved. By entering this plea Anne is taking full responsibility for her actions and honoring those of the officers. She offers her deepest apologies to all of the officers involved in this incident.
Moving forward, Anne is prepared to accept the consequences of her actions and hopes that others can learn from her mistake. She is anxious to put this incident behind her and get back to the business of helping other people.
