SEATTLE —

A man accused of a brutal crime spree has been found guilty of the 2004 rape of an Eastlake woman.

Police said Curtis S. Thompson, 49, broke into the victim's apartment, bound her hands and feet and raped her multiple times on Aug. 17, 2004. Prosecutors said he then rubbed bleach into the woman's body and washed the bed sheets to try to destroy any DNA evidence.

Thompson was shackled and strapped down during the trial because of his history of threats and courtroom outbursts.

He was found guilty last October of assaulting two women near the University of Washington a week after the woman's rape.

The Seattle man is also accused of fatally stabbing a woman in the back of the head with a screwdriver in August 2004. His trial for that crime is scheduled for Mar. 2.

Thompson was previously convicted of four rapes in the Seattle area in 1985. He was released in October 2003 after serving 18 years of a 25-year sentence.
