SEATTLE —
A soldier from Seattle soldier was killed when an improvised explosive device blew up in Afghanistan on Tuesday, his parents confirmed.
The Department of Defense has yet to release any information about the death, but KIRO 7 Eyewitness News morning co-anchor Chris Egert was able to confirm that the victim was Roosevelt High School graduate Will Stacey, 23, a sergeant in the Marines.

Stacey’s mother, Robin, is a history professor at the University of Washington. His father, Robert Stacey, is the interim dean of the UW College of Arts and Sciences.
Will Stacey's father was in the process of meeting the Marines on Wednesday when Egert stopped by their home.
"He died saving others. No one else was hurt, and that's the way he would have wanted it,” said Robert Stacey. "Parents lose their children. It is a fact of life. Sometimes it happens with a car accident, sometimes it is because they did something stupid, and in this case, it is because of war. Unfortunately, we are now part of a group of parents who have lost a child in Afghanistan."
Robert Stacey said his son's wishes were to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
