SEATTLE —
At about noon, the state patrol said a trooper requested help as he was fighting with a suspect near the Montlake ramp to eastbound WA-520. Seattle police sent at least two units to the scene. A call for help from an officer of any agency is the highest priority call police can receive.
While units were en route, two police cars crashed at 12th Avenue East and East John Street in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle.
The officers involved suffered minor injuries, and early reports said there was possible damage to a traffic control device that Seattle City Light would investigate further.
No civilians were involved in the crash.
The Washington State Patrol said the officer's help call came in after a trooper responded to reports of a man walking against traffic at the Montlake ramp near a bus pull out. The officer arrived to take the man off the street, but started to wrestle him and called for backup.
The man was arrested and taken to the King County Jail where he is expected to face charges of criminal trespass, resisting arrest and assault of an officer.
The man suffered minor injuries. The officer was unharmed.
