HONOLULU —
A Seattle man who disappeared while sailing in the Hawaiian islands has been found safe after two weeks at sea.
Officials say 66-year-old Ira Foreman was blown off course by strong winds during what was supposed to be a one-day voyage from Kauai to Oahu.
He showed up on Sunday on the Big Island, safe.
Foreman was reported missing Dec. 24, six days after he was due at Keehi Lagoon on Oahu. Last Thursday, the Coast Guard suspended a four-day search for Foreman after covering 209,000 square miles.
He finally contacted his ex-wife by cell phone Saturday and said he had encountered strong winds but was never in distress.
