Seattle School Repeatedly Targeted By Vandals

SEATTLE, Wash. —

Parents at a small private Seattle school have spent the weekend cleaning the campus. For the third time in three weeks, St. Benedict's private school has been vandalized.

Eggs were tossed through a second-floor window into a science classroom. Two sides of the brick building were also pelted with eggs.

Neighbors tell school officials they believe the vandals struck early Sunday morning.

The eggs were only part of the damage. Glue was smeared in classrooms stripping the paint right off the walls.

Some type of superglue or model glue was also poured into every single door lock. The glue destroyed the locking mechanisms and damaged doors. Estimated losses are into the thousands of dollars and it appears to be escalating.

Maintenance supervisor Jim Frank said, It first happened last weekend and three locks were glued then. This weekend all the locks and now the egging so yes it's frustrating.

The vandalism is also frustrating for parents who say the school's budget is tight and the vandalism costs could cut into school programs.

Monique Kirkmire, a mother of two, said "Everyone tries so hard in whatever they can to make little improvements and something like this was very damaging financially as well."

So far the police and school have launched separate investigations. There are no suspects.
